I think the story Tom Sawyer is still popular because of the language and because of how it relates to people. In the story there are a lot of words that people would get mad about or dislike, but Mark Twain put them in anyway. It goes back to what Mr. Zehr was talking about today. Why did Mark Twain write differently than other writers of the time? I think part of it was to make the story seem real and make the reader feel like they are there. Another part though is that I think that Mark Twain was trying to see if his writing would be remembered. Even people who didn't like it will remember the story because of the bad words in the book. Having a bad image of the book in your head, still leaves the reader thinking about the book. It is also easy to relate to. Tom is like any other kid, ready to stop following orders and see the world for something else. These things make teachers and students want to learn and read more about Tom Sawyer.

I think Tom Sawyer is read today not only because it is a good adventure story, but also because it truly relates to everyday life. Everyone goes through a stage in their life when they want to run away and explore the world for themselves. Everybody goes through that stage where they think everyone is out to get them, and where the world just doesn’t seem fair. Tom is a very easy character to relate to because he feels just what the readers have felt before. It’s also very entertaining to watch the troubles he gets himself into and imagine what our own life would be like if we put ourselves into his predicaments.

Tom Sawyer will always be a popular book due to Mark Twain's styling throughout the story. Twain wrote of experiences that he and his friends went through as boys. How more realistic could you possibly get? This enables the reader to connect to Tom and the other boys and feel the raw emotions. Tom's thoughts on work, play, love, and life were laid out right in front of the reader, and the thoughts stirred up childhood memories in the reader's mind. Tom Sawyer's revival of the reader's inner child keeps the book popular to this day.

Tom Sawyer's story is still read in schools today for many reasons. There has been no ban on it because it deals with nothing uneccesarily lewd or no truly bad innuendos, such as why To Kill A Mockingbird was banned. Mark Twain wrote in such an almost poetic style that it was amazing to see him come through with the words used. Moreso, the dialect accurately portrayed. The entire book is easily relatable; it has to have some action in it, such as the scare with Injun Joe, but there is all of the classical elements in the book. There's love, and betrayal, and a blood *binding* oath. Fun to read at all ages!

I believe Tom Sawyer is still read in schools due to the relation to reality it creates. Also, I believe it causes people to realize how easy it was back then compared to our busy lives now. So most probably picture that simplicity and therefore it makes their life seem easier for the duration of the story.

Tom Sawyer is still read today because it reminds us truthfully about how simple life was then. It provides awesome adventures and insight into a young boys everyday life. and the way Mark Twain wrote the book keeps us on the edge of our seats, no matter how many times you've heard this story. :)
